From Elmia to an initiative for tomorrow's drivers
At Elmia Lastbil we had many appreciated visits to our stand. We were especially pleased by the interest from training managers, teachers and students in professional driver and plant operator programmes.
Those conversations sparked an idea. Why not let students learn the digital tools during training — before they enter the workplace?
That is why we have decided to offer Telme free of charge to schools and training providers in professional driver and plant operator education.
From the classroom to real workflows
Transport and contracting are increasingly digital. For a driver or plant operator, work today is not only about operating the vehicle or machine. Orders, work instructions, time, documentation, photos, deviations and other tasks are handled digitally to a growing extent.
With Telme, training can create assignments that mirror the reality students will meet at employers. When students practise they get access to the Telme Go app — with the same features and capabilities they will use in the workplace.
Students can for example work with
- digital orders and work assignments
- information and instructions before a job
- starting and completing assignments
- time reporting (including absence)
- recording completed work
- photos and documentation
- deviations and other feedback
- understanding how the driver's or operator's reporting feeds the company's ongoing administration
That makes it possible to build a digital flow from planning and assignment to execution and reporting back.
A complete platform to train on
Telme is used to connect different parts of transport and contracting operations. Training can therefore show not only what happens in the vehicle or machine, but also how information is used further by dispatch and administration.
Students gain a better understanding of the full chain behind a transport or contracting job.
Free of charge for training providers
We want tomorrow's drivers and plant operators to be well prepared for an increasingly digital labour market. That is why we offer Telme with no licence fee for use in teaching in professional driver and plant operator programmes.
Our hope is that schools can use Telme as a practical part of teaching and build their own realistic exercises based on their courses and modules.
